The new marina built in 1996 is visible here on the right, just before the end of navigation at Five Locks. There is a scheme to regenerate the canal all the way to Newport again - Torfaen, Newport, and Caerphilly are partners in the project together with the Monmouth & Brecon Canal Trust.
Looking back towards the tunnel from Five Locks, the marina is on the left before the houses. A new bridge over the canal is planned at the end of this housing and, due to the Grade II Listing, replaces the original plan of putting a road over the tunnel.
We hope you have enjoyed taking this "web walk" with us - come and see it for yourself, better still support us in our endeavours to keep it the way it is!
