The new marina at Five Locks The new marina built in 1996 is visible here on the right, just before the end of navigation at Five Locks. There is a scheme to regenerate the canal all the way to Newport again - Torfaen, Newport, and Caerphilly are partners in the project together with the Monmouth & Brecon Canal Trust.

Looking back towards the tunnel from Five Locks Looking back towards the tunnel from Five Locks, the marina is on the left before the houses. A new bridge over the canal is planned at the end of this housing and, due to the Grade II Listing, replaces the original plan of putting a road over the tunnel.

We hope you have enjoyed taking this "web walk" with us - come and see it for yourself, better still support us in our endeavours to keep it the way it is!

Continue the walk around the area or return to the over the top of the tunnel.
