The towpath over the top of Cwmbrân Tunnel gives access to Public Rights of Way each commanding panoramic views. Look West up to Bryn Farm and Mynydd Maen behind or east towards Wrens Nest Farm and beyond over Cwmbrân town, on a clear day you can see the steelworks, the Bristol Channel and the Quantock hills in Somerset.

On the right, these grasslands between Pontyrhydyrun roundabout and Wrens Nest Farm should, according to Gwent Wildlife Trust experts, should be designated as SSSI (Site of Special Scientific Interest) status.
