Waterway of Life

by Robert Geoffrey Moore

A place to contemplate and ramble,
No room for cars or motorbikes to scramble
Its twists and turns that hide the way
Of vistas glimpst and past heyday.

The hope of nature to reveal
Its quiet places that conceal
The screech and hoot from bare limbed tree
The wild and elusive we rarely see.

Rain or shine along its path
Feeding ducks at The Open Hearth
Woods and fields where buzzards mew
Cold autumn mornings with frosted dew.

A sanctuary for my mind
Away from work and the daily grind.
A place to revisit and recount the time
When I first walked the canal towpath line.
